Role and Responsibilities
The duties listed below are intended as examples of the types of work that may be performed by a Workshop Facilitator, but are not all necessarily performed and do not include all specific functions and responsibilities that the Workshop Facilitator may be expected to perform.
- Deliver curriculum-based groups and other services related to the Forward Thinking and Victim Sensitivity programs within the residential facilities of the Division of Youth Rehabilitative Services, 7 group sessions weekly.
- Prepare and deliver group materials in a flexible and energetic manner.
- Meet one on one with program participants to establish rapport and connection to materials.
- Track and update client information using the designated agency database program.
- Generate weekly, quarterly, and year-end reports to the Division of Youth Rehabilitative Services and DCJ management; additional reporting may be requested as needed.
- Collaborate with the Division of Youth Rehabilitative Services regarding transition planning and progress, as needed.
- Recruit and support guest speakers for the Victim Sensitivity Program based on weekly content.
- Follow DSCYF Facility Procedures and Protocols.
- Accept and perform other work as assigned.
- Job Type: Part-Time 20–25 hours/week, afternoons and evenings.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Master’s degree in human services, social work, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience working with adjudicated youth, ideally in residential or institutional settings.
- Significant knowledge and experience related to justice-involved people, the social forces and systems impacting them, and the resources available to them are required.
- Experience with group facilitation is required.
- Experience in motivational interviewing, strengths-based, trauma-informed practice, and/or Cognitive Behavioral practices is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with youth.
- Adaptability and creativity in group facilitation, especially in challenging environments.
- Cultural humility and commitment to equity when working with diverse populations.
- Embrace an understanding of justice involvement that acknowledges the impact of institutional racism and the systemic oppression of BIPOC, women, and LGBTQ+ people; must share the belief that people can change in positive ways.
- Understands and supports the mission of the Delaware Center for Justice.
- Network of community guest speakers preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage work at different sites (in-office and off-site).
- Ability to multitask and work both independently and with supervision, on-site and remotely.
- Basic computer skills, including but not limited to the use of Microsoft Office, as well as Zoom/Skype and other distance meeting resources.
- Background checks and clearances required as per program contract(s).
